Welcome to Season 2024

The Queenscliff Football Netball Club is thrilled to see junior Couta, Jhye Clark, recruited to the Geelong Cats.

This outstanding achievement is due to Jhye’s hard work, talent and support from his family, especially parents and QFNC LIfe Members Steve and Shelley.

It demonstrates we have a strong junior program at QFNC and a pathway to the very top level. It shows our young players that they too can progress from the club they love to the big time.

We can’t wait to watch and support Jhye live his AFL dream.

VALE BARRY β€˜FAB’ EDMONDSON
Life Member of the Queenscliff Football Netball Club

Our Couta family is deeply saddened by the passing of Barry β€˜Fab’ Edmondson. A QFNC life member, premiership player, and the longest-serving Secretary in our club’s history.

Fab’s contribution to the Coutas was extraordinary.
He first pulled on a Couta jumper when Queenscliff entered the Polwarth League in 1959, and he was part of the famous 1961 senior premiership side - known as a lightning-fast player who ran off half back or the wing with real flair.

But it was what came next that truly shaped our club.

In 1962, Fab stepped into the role of Club Secretary.
He held that position for 16 consecutive years (1962–1977) - the longest tenure of any secretary in our history. He guided Queenscliff through a golden era, reintroduced the recording of games played, and was a steady, reliable, meticulous administrator whose work laid the foundations for generations to come.

Those who knew him describe a man of routine, pride and character.
Always well dressed. Perfect hair.

Locals tell stories of Fab walking into the fish and chip shop at the exact same time every Friday night, where his order would already be waiting - no pre-order ever needed.
Others remember him strolling past the Bowler at 7:50pm on the dot, his timing so precise you could set your watch to it.

Most of all, Fab is remembered as a quiet achiever and a warm, welcoming presence - someone who embraced newcomers, supported players, and became part of the fabric of Queenscliff FNC for decades.

We are proud to honour his incredible service, and grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

Our love and thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who knew and admired him.
