Jenny Burnside’s journey with the QFNC began in 1999 when she was recruited as the U12 team manager by Keith Cohen. This was her son Cameron’s team during their first year living in Queenscliff, and it marked the start of her profound and enduring involvement with the Coutas.

Jenny managed teams for all of Cameron’s age groups until 2008. In that year, she took a major step in leadership by becoming the QFNC Secretary. Jen served as secretary for six years, and since then has been the Senior Football Team Manager to this day.
Among her countless cherished memories, one stands out: standing on the Torquay oval in 2011 after winning the club’s first premiership, surrounded by players in the dark, singing the club song. It was a moment of pure elation and unity, a true “goosebump” experience.

Jen says the biggest change during her time is that ‘the club has become a place where families, players and volunteers are comfortable and supported. We have grown from a boys club to a safe, caring, inclusive destination for everyone.’

Jen attributes her youthful spirit to her involvement with the club. She finds immense joy in seeing the boys she once managed as U12s grow into fine young men, some now with children of their own starting their journeys at the Coutas. Watching these young men represent the Coutas at various levels, whether lifelong members or new recruits, gives her a deep sense of fulfillment.

She has become a guiding figure, a mother hen to many, offering support, scolding when necessary, and always a hug when needed. Her nurturing presence has been a cornerstone of the QFNC community, helping young players grow into responsible and caring individuals.

We celebrate Jen for her extraordinary service and thank her for the countless ways she has enriched the QFNC. We look forward to you tossing the coin this Saturday Jen! ❤️🤍💙
